Made for optical shops, not for every shop
Most POS software is made for restaurants or supermarkets. An optical shop works differently: a customer leaves an advance, the lenses are ordered, the frame is fitted, the balance is paid on delivery. Dioptra follows that flow.
Job orders with the prescription
Enter the eye power (SPH, CYL, AXIS, ADD, PD) on the order itself. Take the advance, set the delivery date, print the job order. When the customer collects, take the balance and print the tax invoice.
UAE VAT done correctly
Frames, prescription lenses and sunglasses at 5%. Powered contact lenses at 0%, because the FTA treats them as medical devices. Both can be on one invoice. The VAT report gives you the figures for your return.
Simple words, no accounting terms

Does it need internet?
No. Dioptra works on your own Windows PC without internet. Internet is only needed when we help you remotely.
Where is my data?
On your own PC. It is backed up automatically four times a day, and you can keep a copy on a USB stick or cloud folder. It belongs to you.
Can I bring in my existing customers and items?
Your items, yes. Send them in Excel or export them from your current software. Customers are added as job orders are made. Supplier balances and stock counts are entered during installation.
Is the VAT correct for an optical shop?
Yes. Frames, prescription lenses, sunglasses and solutions are charged at 5%. Powered contact lenses are at 0% because they are classified as medical devices. Both can be on the same invoice, and the VAT report gives you the totals for your FTA return.
Is Dioptra good for a small optical shop?
Yes. Most of our users are single shops with one or two counters. There is no monthly fee and no charge per bill, so a small shop pays once and uses it for years.
My shop is in Dubai or Sharjah. Can you still install it?
Yes. Installation and training are done online over a video call, and it takes about half a day. Shops in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah get the same setup and support as shops in Abu Dhabi.
What hardware do I need?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC and a normal printer for job orders and invoices. A label printer and barcode scanner are optional.
What happens after the first 12 months?
The software keeps working. Updates and support after the first year are a small yearly fee, and even without it you can always open and read your records.
